BAFTA View for the Fire TV Stick
What is a Fire TV Stick, and how to get one
The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a small streaming device that plugs into your TV’s HDMI port. We developed the BAFTA View app specifically for Fire TV Stick to give you the best big-screen viewing experience.
You can buy a Fire TV Stick online from Amazon, or in-store at places like Argos and Currys. Always check the list of supported models before purchasing.
Supported models
For the best experience, make sure you get you get your hands on one of the supported models below:
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max – 2nd Gen (2023) – 16 GB – AFTKRT
- Fire TV Stick 4K – 2nd Gen (2023) – 8 GB – AFTKM
- Fire TV Stick 4K Max – 1st Gen (2021) – AFTKA
- Fire TV Stick 4K – 1st Gen (2018) – AFTMM
Fire TV Stick (3rd gen and earlier), Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Cube, and Amazon Fire TV are currently unsupported.
You might still be able to access BAFTA View with one of these, but you’re more likely to run into problems when using the app.
How to set up your Fire TV Stick
What you’ll need
- Fire TV Stick 4K or 4K Max
- Smart TV or a TV with a HDMI port
- A free Amazon account
- Power source near the TV to plug in the Fire TV Stick
Getting set up
- Plug the Fire TV Stick into a HDMI port on your TV
- Connect the USB power cable to the Fire Stick
- Plug the USB cable into the included power adapter, and then plug that into a wall socket
- Use your TV remote to select the HDMI input you plugged the Fire Stick into
- Insert batteries into your Fire Stick remote
- Follow the on-screen instructions to login to your Amazon account and set up your Fire TV Stick
- Once you’re all set up, select the Appstore from the Fire TV home screen and search for BAFTA View
- Download and open the BAFTA View app
- Use your Fire TV Stick remote to login to the BAFTA View app with your usual details, or scan the QR code to login on your phone

Navigating the app
Logging in
On your phone:
- Scan the QR code shown on your TV screen or go to my.bafta.org/code in your phone’s browser. Enter the 6-digit code from your TV.
- Sign in using your usual BAFTA View details.
On your TV:
- Use your Fire TV Stick remote and select Sign in on your TV remote.
- Use your remote to sign in with your usual BAFTA View details.
Awards & Categories
- Press left on your remote to open the BAFTA View menu.
- Select Awards to choose between Screenings Programme Catch-Up and Film, Games or TV Awards
- Scroll down to browse categories in each Award.
- Select View All within a category to see every entry, and filter by All, Watched, or Unwatched.
Searching
- Press left on your remote to open the BAFTA View menu.
- Select Search to find a film or TV programme.
- You can also filter results by Watched or Unwatched.
Keeping track of my viewing
To track your viewing, open an entry and choose:
- Add to My List – to create a list of entries
- Watched – to track which entries you’ve seen
Access My List from the BAFTA View menu. From here you can filter by All, Watched, or Unwatched.
You can also view Watched/Unwatched entries within each category.
